Kodachadri: This is a paradise for every trekker and many people who visit Karnataka would never miss to trek on Kodachadri Mountains. It is situated at an altitude of about 1400 feet above sea level. The mountain extends to the Western Ghats and it has been surrounded by evergreen forests and steep mountains offer an amazing trekking trip.

Kundadri: The top of this mountain can be reached either by taking the road or by trekking from the base. The top of the mountain features a stone structure which is known as Parshwanath Chaityalaya.

Honnemarady: This yet another mountain surrounding the Shimoga city has many wind water surfing and other trekking options for the adrenaline pumping tourists who visit this spot.

There are many beautiful lakes to see in Shimoga. To enjoy, you can visit the Navule Lake which is located right in the middle of the city and it is famous tourist spot too. The Mattur Lake is another lake in Shimoga, which is a popular tourist spot and also works as the source of fresh water for the locals.

Rivers in Shimoga

There are two rivers running through the city, Tunga and Bhadra. The water from the River Bhadra is stored in the Bhadra Dam and it has been used for various purposes like electric generation and irrigation. The water that is stored in the Bhadra dam is used for supplying drinking water to the entire city apart from the two other uses. These rivers are said to be interconnected and many tourist places in the district are found near the rivers.
